I have found this book to be a solid reference for the Program Management basics. I haven’t taken the exam yet but as an active Program Manager this book has been very useful. For organizations or professionals that are just starting in Program Management it gives solid information on the program life cycle and key high-level steps involved in the phases etc. The other thing that is good about this book is the author’s writing style which is focused on informing the reader both on the industry practice, but also on the key items on the PgMp exam. I think the writers style makes the information a bit easier to absorb. The “Note” highlights in this book are also very useful for understanding the practical reality of how various features and/or steps in Program Management happens in organizations.

The book is a great reference and preparation for the PgMP. The test questions were not anything like the actual test, but it still prepared me sufficiently to pass. Worth the price, but you have to take the exam before June 30th, 2009 because the test is changing.
